Big four: Jedi

In the interim, he and I chatted on and on about how the stories would meld into a Star Wars universe. It's a pretty lengthy conversation, if only because of the length of each comment we posted. You can find the whole thing on my profile page if you're curious enough. If not, here are a few pertinent highlights:

All takes place in the time of the New Jedi Order, probably a generation or so after the tenure of Grand Master Skywalker.

Hiccup is a practitioner of Soresu. His former Jedi master is E. Aster Bunnymund. He constructed his lightsaber to be dual phase, with versatility and surprise in mind. He's particularly gifted in the force powers Beast Language and Battle Meditation, is a tinkerer in his spare time, and a brilliant fighter pilot whose nearest match is Astrid, a resident of the warrior culture his father is a leader of. His mother, on the other hand, was a Jedi herself. She went missing on a mission to an uninhabited/underexplored planet while he was very young and, after numerous search parties failed to turn up anything more significant than the burnt wreckage of her starship and mangled lightsaber (as well as numerous grievous injuries on their own parts due to the local firebreathing fauna), was presumed dead. However, recent visions from the Force suggest otherwise, and nothing, not even the planet in question having been declared dangerous and off-limits, will stop Hiccup from investigating...

Rapunzel is a practitioner of Niman and the former padawan of Sanderson Mansnoozie. She wields a single lightwhip, but carries an extra shota just in case. Though her style is clean and well-balanced, her true strengths lie to the back of the battlefield, where her powerful gift in force healing is most useful. Even in a fight she is not to be underestimated, however; not only is she quick and versatile with a weapon, but her telekinesis is of a high and subtle caliber. She has been with the Order from a very young age, when she was found with a woman named Gothel, a woman on the run from a huge crime syndicate. She gave Rapunzel to the Order, begging them to keep her secret and safe. Now, years later, a seemingly simple search for missing persons will bring Rapunzel back in contact with mother Gothel...and with the Syndicate which she was not running from, but truly controlled, and which she wished to expand with the help of a Jedi-trained 'daughter'. With the initially-reluctant help of a smuggler, alias Flynn Rider, Rapunzel will not only unravel the Gothel Syndicate but also the truth of her own parentage...

Merida is a practitioner of Shien and the former padawan of Nicholas St. North. She prefers her lightsaber nice and straightforward, but also carries a blaster pistol which she is perfectly willing and able to use. She's a crack shot with a rifle as well, and is gifted in Battle Mind and enough immediate Foresight to make her battle reflexes a thing of wonder. She prefers a more aggressive and direct school of thought as a combat specialist in the Order, much to the dismay of her mother, a prominent and well-respected Senator. Elinor is simultaneously proud of her daughter's standing as a Jedi and disappointed that she has not chosen to pursue a more diplomatic and safe path within the Order. Fergus, however, encourages Merida with everything he has.

Jack practices Ataru. For most of his time as Padawan, his master was one Kozmotis Pitchiner...until that Jedi suddenly vanished, apparently from the face of the galaxy. After that his training was finished alongside Merida's as a student of North. He enjoys the extra length of a lightstaff and is well-gifted in using the Force to enhance his own physical movements. In addition, he's talented enough in Force Camouflage to become all but invisible, and has a natural skill with Force Lightning, though the technique's strong dark side attachments means he rarely, if ever, makes use of it. He was born to a poor family on a backwater planet. One day when he was a boy, he went out to play on a frozen pond with his little sister. When the ice began to crack, he instinctively used the Force to push her to safety, though he fell in himself. To his fortune, a Jedi happened to be passing by on a local mission. Said Jedi not only sensed Jack's use of the Force, but was present in time to pull him out and administer first aid. When Jack recovered, the Jedi suggested he join the Order, where he could learn more about his talents and how to use them. Though it was difficult, Jack bid farewell to his family and left for Coruscant, though he makes sure to stay in contact and to send them what aid he can. But now a new Sith has arisen, one who eschewed the tradition of the Darth title while embracing their mandates of power...and Pitch Black wants his former apprentice back by his side.
