Character Sketch sheet 1

Description

Sort of another proof of existance: I'm still alive and hanging out on DA.

This is what I've been up to the past few days. Correction: this is what my MUSE has been up to. Character creation/revamp for a story which might or might not be told, especially since my muse has been presenting it in GRAPHIC NOVEL format.
I HATE drawing sequential art. Hate it! And yet that is the only format I can see these guys taking: their story refuses to play out in my head as printed words. Instead, I keep getting flashes of a panel here, a page there, a scene in black-and-white inked pictures rather than words. It's almost maddening, especially since I would need to figure out how to draw scenery...with perspective...and various vehicles, because even though these guys look medieval fantasy, they're actually set in a universe that's a little more modern with a mix of futuristic...
Eeeeee...

On another note, I'm rather pleased right now with how my sketches are turning out. I've definitely improved since last year, when I first sketched out a few of the characters (Rowan, Jaya, the unnamed girl in the upper right hand corner). They've also changed immensely themselves as their stories come forward in my mind.

I also have too much fun with cultural stuff. The Dwarf's costume, for example, is an eclectic mixture of European-style plate armor, Aztec weaponry and patterning (with a slightly Celtic twist), a Celtic/Viking/something up there styled cloak, and god-only-knows where that hairstyle came from. The Healer's got touches of Japanese attire in there, as does Jaya's fighting costume, and since I've got yet another character to design, goodness knows what else I'll end up playing with.
:D
It's fun.

Well, I suppose that's enough for now. I've been coloring these guys for the past five hours at least, and I'm starving.
Valete!

You were right about the dwarf, all of the different stuff thrown together, but I like it. Did you know that that primitive sword (can't remember the proper name) he's holding could take off a horse's headwith one chop? The Spaniards were pretty pissed about that.
