Medievalstuck: Beta Kids by Oreramar Medievalstuck: Beta Kids by Oreramar
Medievalstuck designs for all the beta kids. I have pencil sketches finished for all the alpha kids and four of the trolls as well. :)

EDIT Alpha kids: [link]
Lowbloods: [link]
Midbloods: [link]

The designs focus more on traditional medieval clothing (for the most part), though I made some concessions here and there. Jade and John's glasses, for instance. I intend them to be useful as cosplay ideas with wiggle room. Making Rose's costume Grimdark, for instance, or lightening up Dave's armor a bit. :D

So, Dave as a Knight: full armor and fully funded, probably directly in the service of his elder Bro, the crown prince. ("Bro" may or may not be literal in meaning "brother;" it's entirely conceivable in this rough headcanon I've constructed that Dave simply came into service as the son of a high noble/knight at a young age, and the prince simply "adopted" him informally as his little brother/protege). I included a helmet and a shield. The helmet is winged as a nod to Davesprite and suspiciously bucket-shaped just for the irony (and to prod fun at any trolls). The shield is fairly traditional in form, painted with a time gear, but could conceivably be changed to a sort of metalic turn-time-table shield instead. :P

Rose as a Seer: being Dave's twin sister, I've little doubt she's also well off in terms of living and finances. Hence the fur and stylish dress, plus a few tasteful pieces of jewelry. She loves her books and is an avid student of the magical arts, though with a somewhat worrying interest in the darker sides of summoning.

John as an Heir: Probably the hardest for me to design, since 'heir' implies nothing more than the one in a position to inherit, and his God Tier costume is extremely simple and even rather modern. So I assumed that he's the son of a well-off merchent, firmly upper-middle class or so. I originally designed him with some feathers stuck all over to tie in the wind aspect, then decided that if I was going to go with a flight thing, it might as well be fur. Gets cold up there, you know. So fur trim on pale yellowish leather, a short cape, and a well-cut tunic.

Jade as a Witch: twin of John, yet I've little doubt she was raised somewhere a little more wild than a merchant's house in a city someplace. She's very good with potions and with spells that change the form or position of things, but not so much with charms that affect people and animals (by luring or repelling them for instance). Becquerel is her familiar, strongly magical and intelligent in his own right. He aids her spellcasting.

Whoo! Time to take a break, then get back to sketch-lining and coloring the others as well. XP

This is really cool, can't wait to see mre. the only thing that gets me is that John's hammer looks a bit, flat, to me.

It is, isn't it? I can't remember if I was going for something with that or if perspective stepped out, faced me, and received my immediate and unconditional surrender. Probably the latter.

I'm having fun with it. By the time I'm done, I'll have entire backstories and tidbits of further plot development. For instance, I've got the feeling that somewhere down the line a demon called Spades Slick (Jack Noir when he's disguised as a human) will attempt to consume Becquerel to gain the dog's amazing magical powers. Jade will be too late to completely save her beloved familiar, but the last shreds of his essence will immediately merge with her to supply her power and protection against Slick - and bingo, we've got a medieval version of the Dog Tier.

Oh, and the best part? I finished Tavros and Jake both before Caliborn: Enter came out. And I was kind of worried that the Page shorts I gave Jake and the Peter-pan inspired tunic I gave Tavros might be a tad too embarrasing for anyone to look at it and say, "Yes, I'd cosplay that!"

Then we got the canon Page Tier.

And by god, those shorts and that tunic are now positively manly.

This is truly an amazing idea. If ever you decide to make a fanfic out of this, I will be your most annoying fan.

I'm pretty sure that Nepeta's Derse dress is more manly than the canon Page Tier.

I don't need more fic fodder ideas. XD Still trying to shake off the ones I already have.

Nah, my vague (very very vague) thoughts are more like "create cosplay design. Draw "cutaparts" of each piece in design. Look up tips for creating cosplay armor/costume/etc. Draw alternate versions for further twists and takes (ex: Grimdark Medievalstuck Rose). Write little Hussie-esque blurbs on each AU version character (a-la-Your name is XXXXXXX and blah blah). Print out in clever little computer-paper booklets. See about artist's alley table if I ever go back to little local convention next year. Profit even if ever so slightly."

It'll never work, but it's sort of fun to think about. XD

I'm sure it is as well. At least that could perhaps be claimed to be a "robe" or defended with "well some guys wear kilts and those are pretty much the same kind of thing..."

Sadly, the Maid tier outfit could easily be worn by a guy. He'd probably come out looking sorta like a colonial footman or something like that, but at least it's pretty much tailcoat and pants, as opposed to a belted leotard.

Heh, too bad. Funnily enough, my best friend and I put together a plot for a Victorianstuck AU. John and Jane are well-to-do cousins (Jane is the heiress to a successful proprietor of baked goods, after all) but they like to sneak out all the time and hang with the gypsy carnies, in other words the twelve trolls plus Roxy and Rose. Jake and Jade are young adventurers whose exploits always turn into Around the World in 80 Days-style escapades, where no matter how much planning goes into their trips, they always end in shenanigans; Dirk and Dave are mercenaries who tag along to make sure they get out of said shenanigans in one piece. The main villain is Jane's aunt Betty Crocker, whose prosperous baking business is a front for her underhanded dealings with the Midnight Crew and the Felt. (In this, it's John who suffers the frequent assassination attempts, because he, Dirk, and Roxy are the only ones who know the batterwitch's secret, and the batterwitch doesn't know about Dirk and Roxy.) GCAT, or rather Mr. Gideon Christopher Alistair Thompson, is Jane's butler and the batterwitch's eyes and ears.

Man, that was a fun night when we put this together. We're gonna try to do it, too. We're gonna try to make it happen.

That sounds like such an awesome AU! I want to hear more about the trolls and Roxy and Rose and their roles in the carnie sense. Some I can pretty well place in my own head (not knowing if it's what you've got) given that Rose and Terezi are Seers in the game, and I expect Gamzee fills some sort of clown or jester role. And if Karkat can control the crude part of his mouth long enough, I can sort of imagine him barking for something - it's a personal headcanon of mine that he and his ancestor shared a trait of eloquence, yet bent that trait in very different directions. X)

Are you fitting the trollcestors into this in any way?

And just so you know, I adore how you fit GCAT in. Gideon Christopher Alistair Thompson. This is wonderful. Just wonderful. :)

Do it. Make it happen.

Okay, so what we have for the carnie roles is:

Roxy handles concessions. Rose is a fortuneteller, but instead of actually telling the future, she psychoanalyzes them and gives them honest advice dressed up to sound like pseudo-mystical gibberish. Nepeta and Tavros work with and care for the animals. Vriska is, too, sort of, only she just shows off her pet spiders. Eridan does the magic show while Feferi is either his sexy assistant or an acrobat, or both. Equius is the strongman, of course. Terezi's the ringmaster, Kanaya does costume design, Aradia is in acrobatics (after that whipwork in canon, I figured she'd be alright on a trapeze). Gamzee's the clown and Karkat is the overall manager, aka the shouty panicky guy who freaks out before every show. Kind of like Florian Dugglewoof Wilffachop, only less wotwot and more fuck fuck. Sollux is fun because he's a two-man stage setup and lighting crew; he's actually a pair of twins named Castor and Pollux, but only Rose, Feferi, and Aradia are aware of this. Feferi's dating one and Aradia's dating the other, and everyone else is under the impression that "Sollux" is playing both of them, but none of them can get up the nerve to tell Feferi and Aradia. Except Eridan, but no one listens to him. Karkat suspects that there are actually two of them, but no one believes him.

We have not found a way to fit in the trollcestors beyond Betty Crocker, but she's more Betty Crocker than Condesce, since she had pretty much no connection to Feferi.

We have it so that GCAT finds out that Dirk, Roxy, and eventually Jake (because Dirk tells him) know about Crocker's crimes when he escorts a very drunk and babbly Roxy home after she visits Jane.
