The Nature of Balance

Well...where to begin?

I did an initial concept sketch of this...oh, weeks ago, while at work. It was much simpler in detail, given both my limited drawing area and the fact that I wasn't really planning out much, just drawing. I wanted to redo it at some point, but never really got around to it...until now.

There's a lot of symbolism going into this, and a lot of layers you can put to that symbolism. So far, the most I've gotten as a guess was from my dad: "She's got a branch and a sword on scales...she's weighing peace and war?"

'Weighing' suggests comparing the two for worth and, in a sense, 'rightness.' That's a possibility, I guess, but it's not what I wanted to convey here. Consider: how is she supposed to compare these things when she's blind(folded)? No, I had another reason for the scales, another explanation or metaphor there.

I wonder...how much can you guess at? I'd love to hear it.

Here goes nothing...
For starters, her arm is outstretched towards the viewer, as if offering the scale or the results on the scale for analysis.
Six wings? the only creatures that I know that have six wings are the Seraphim in Isaiah 6, but they have feet.
The colors of the wings, black, gray, and white, all could be used as metaphors to describe decisions that are made. 'Pure' intentions, 'Gray' area, and 'Black' motives, perhaps? This also goes with the concept of comparing thoughts to wings or birds.
As for her choice of clothing and her partially serpentine appearance, I don't know where you intended to go with that. Could you explain?

I hope my partial analysis wasn't too stupid. It's beautifully put together. Thanks for posting it.
